Dr. Erika Houtz is Director of Applied Technology at Onterris Treatment Technologies, where she specializes in the design and optimization of targeted treatment solutions for per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). Her work centers on integrating destruction technologies into Onterris treatment trains, and she serves as product lead for AvPURE, an advanced oxidation process developed to extend adsorptive media lifetime.
Before joining Onterris, Dr. Houtz worked as an analytical chemist and environmental consultant, focusing on site investigation, environmental forensics, and remediation. She is widely recognized for co-developing the Total Oxidizable Precursor (TOP) Assay, an analytical method that measures difficult-to-measure precursor PFAS, and is an active contributor to the peer-reviewed literature.
Dr. Houtz holds a Ph.D. and M.S. in Environmental Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, and a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from The Ohio State University.
